Master of Business Administration

PROGRAMME PHILOSOPHY

To provide a distinctive and rewarding MBA, taking people on a learning journey that is more than academically rigorous and practically relevant, but one which challenges and stretches the very heart and soul of their thinking and actions.

There is the belief that the best managers are PRACTICAL THEORISTS – people whose work is often done in an INTUITIVE Way.

However, effective intuition is based on effective learning. This programme is designed to assist people become more EFFECTIVE LEARNERS by helping them critically examine the assumptions and theories that shape their managerial practice and to encourage them to consider alternative ways of thinking about their work.
By providing exciting learning experiences and engaging in lively and contemporary dialogue, it sets to enhance people’s practical theorizing, making them more aware of the organizational choices they can make and helping them become more effective, intuitive managers.

PROGRAMME DESIGN

CORE VALUES

In designing this new MBA aimed at introducing emerging managers to the challenges of managing and leading, the moral dimension within organizations should be the centre of the programme. Klebe, Trevino and McCabe (1994) refer to this as the meta-learning approach whereby ethics and values learning takes place within a hidden curriculum of the MBA programme.

The core of the programme will incorporate learning opportunities that challenge delegates as reflective practitioners to engage in their own moral self-development.

A new module, THINKING and MANAGING ETHICALLY, will focus on Issues relating to values, morals and ethics.

Other modules including the Team Consultancy Project, The International consultancy Project, Managing and Leading Strategically and Learning and Changing modules, will continue to challenge participants’ perceptions, interpretations and reflections in these real issues.
