English for Foreign Students

 

Singapore is widely recognized as the regional study centre for the English Language. Since most Singaporeans are familiar with English, students will be exposed to the language in English speaking environment. At the Raffles Academy, students also benefit from high quality teaching staff and complete facilities to contribute towards an ideal learning environment. As part of the School’s pastoral programme, all incoming foreign students will be assisted in matters relating to admission, orientation, academic consultation, and counseling needs. The Student Services’ Office also helps students concerning immigration and student pass.

 

PROGRAMME AIM

 

The intensive daily programme has been structured to improve:

· Pronunciation

· Ability to communicate effectively

· Ability to write accurately and fluently

 

In addition to the above examinations, students are prepared for TOEFL (Test of English as a Foreign Language) and IELTS (International English Language Testing System).

 

The course structure for English Language program comprises:

· Elementary

· Pre Intermediate

· Intermediate

· Advanced

· IELTS / Business English

The various levels of the course are structured so as to enhance:

· vocabulary

· listening and speaking skills

· reading and writing skills

 

ENTRY REQUIREMENTS

 

No minimum educational qualifications are required, however students may have to sit for a Placement Test to determine the level of entry.
